Relief, correction, stregthening, and maintenance.
Relief
Massage sessions in the begining will concentrate on relieving pain, reducing the tension that lies within the muscle and calming stressed nerves. These first few sessions are aimed towards starting the initial treatment of the underlying problem.
Correction
After the pain subsides, therapists will start to concentrate on the problem that caused the initial pain. The therapist will then use techniques that are targeted to stimulate your lymphatic system and freeing the knotted and scarred muscle fibers.
Strengthening
A very important part of repairing the badly damaged area is strengthening. A continued weakness at the site of injury can mean recurring problems. To provide the adequate support to the site of injury, will be to use varied techniques to stregthen the tissues near the injury site. This will provide much needed support to the injured area after it is healed.
Maintenance
The final and most important stage, I believe, is maintenance. This is the first step to continuous prevention of other injuries. The techniques used to maintain your body are geared towards treating the problem and prevention of the occurance of new problems.
I believe if you follow these steps with your Massage Therapist completely, you will be able to relive pain and injury. It is very important to follow any and all after care instructions given by your therapist. These excercises are given to provide extra help in obtaining your ultimate goal to complete healing.
